When I think about this day, I don’t think so much about the history and the politics.
I think about Becky and Myrna, and their joy together as they walked down the aisle.
I think of Richard and Dean, who will celebrate together in a beautiful ceremony in North Carolina.
I think of Michael and Daniel, who anxiously awaited this day.
I think of Loie and Daniel and Terry and Karen. Mihael, Leah, Stacey, and Martyn.
I think of the joy we have found together, how so many have suffered along the way. I am glad today.
I have nothing against those who disagree. You are also welcome in my family. There’s no getting away from each other; I trust God with my own beliefs and with yours. God is our judge, and he is fair, and just, and merciful.
I want to do our best to live together. I want us to learn to learn not to exclude each other. To listen, have courage, and be kind.
Thank you for your heartfelt comments. This is all about people — not abstractions — those who love and want to be loved in a committed way. You captured this very well.
